I think the general idea among many (from the people I have talked to) is that peace will finally be called in the middle east. It's just another way of getting people excited and making them feel scared.

Did you feel picked on and persecuted?
by Virgogirl inas a dub, did you tend to color every slight and small injustice in your day as persecution?
i just learned today, that my elder at work discovered a small error in his paycheck that payroll made.
he immediately ran to the union, as well as any to co-workers who would listen, and said i must have messed up his pay because i have something personal against him, me being an ex witless, and knowing he's an elder.

There's an elder in our hall who has made it his personal goal to not quit talking about persection. Ever week is another story about how we might have to wipe our brothers rear end (i'm not kidding, a comment was made to that effect!). Don't they realize that people are persectued for all kinds of things? Not just being a JW.

Isn't it amazing how this is spun amongst JWs as a sign of something.
I can see it now...
"In these last days Jehovah is really speeding up the work. The general trend shows that the preaching work is coming to its completion. As in the days of Noah, the doors will soon be closed and all those who did not put faith in the true God or his servants will regret their decision. Do not become fearful or tired of the growing trends. Attach yourselves to gods organization and attain victory!" -taken from some stupid Watchtower study article yet to be published, but it's on the way. -

Shunning
by sass_my_frass ini've had a bit of a breakthrough in realising that the disfellowshipping has achieved the exact opposite of what it was supposed to; it was supposed make me see the seriousness of my error and want to return, but it has instead made me see that if it is actually a big deal, it's god who forgives, not these guys, and it's driven me completely away.
they think that holding to ransom my relationships with old friends and relatives will make it worth the struggle, but... to be honest i don't want conditional love from anybody.
i think i'll eventually feel an occasional background sadness over three good friends i'll never see again, and i'll miss that history we had together.

It's good to know that you have got it. Some many people who are disfellowshiped become depressed and think that since they can't live up to mans standards they are bad people.
Many people get disfellowshiped for sinful conduct. I heard a DO once say that we disfellowship people because we had what is sinful and wish to uphold what is right. Didn't jesus hate what is sinful? Yet he encouraged the people who where the deepest into a bad course of life.
More than anything, I feel disfellowshiping is a way for the Witnesses to hold controll over their members. Instead of being a provision for people, it is a way to push people away from the Cong. that don't support all their ideals. -

What Sis.BrokenByBethel is Allowed to Do with her Overstocked Magazine Pile
by stillAwitness inha!
this one made me think of all those in the hall who have magazines piled up in their living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms with no where to go:
km: dec. 2005: make wise use of our bible-based literature

Here's a top ten list of all the places those magazines really go:
10. Mentally Unstable Bible Stuides
9. Calls that will take 20 magazines at once
8. Left off at local laundromats in large number, then thrown away by the owner.
7. Pioneers collect them, then distribute to local places of business who throw them away.
6. Given to homeless people
5. Leave one at every not at home.
4. Droped off in some community box at the Kingdom hall, then eventually Garbage.
3. Garbage
2. They get water damage, then Garbage.
1. They don't go anywhere, they just sit in the box. -

Remember, we have to be willing to do anything Jehovah wants us to do. Thats why that one magazine a while back showed all those people doing crap work. They where trying to prepare people for their new lot in life.
I know of a few people that actually tried to push bethel as an EDUCATION. I'm sure many of you have heard this too. Even when I was totally in the JW mindframe I thought to myself, what a load! -

Remember, what is good for the individual member may not be good for the organization. Jehovah is powerful, and is doing much in this time of the end.

A New Trend for JW Baby Boomers?
by NYCkid ini'm sure this topic has come up before but i'm new here :-) since many of us are offspring of the baby boomer generation or of a generation earlier, i've noticed a trend.
my parents and their siblings who largely grew up as witnesses are now entering or have entered retirement age.
although my parents were generally hard working and responsible people, they have little retirement savings.

In my cong. the are many Baby Boomers that have no security. Most of them are still working, and will continue to work. They continue to go from job to job, painfully moving along holding ever true to the Watchtower. It's pretty sad. There are those I feel sorry for and those I do not. There are some indivisual Baby Boomers at our Hall that are also total bums. People who actually use the JW religion as an excuse not to do real work. Instead they float around, and make ends meet. But you know they are in the mode where they are just going to wait for Armageddeon, and not bother with anything else.

Thinking about doing a long fast
by Elsewhere infor health reasons, i like to do a fast for about three days from time to time.

Brown Rice, Water, and all the fruits and vegetables you can eat. I did this once. I did feel great. The downside is that you get really hungary and are allways eating something. It's worth it though.
